Homemade Peda Recipe is very easy to make and though it needs sincere efforts the result is worth it 

In India exchanging “Peda” is a sign of good news. Pedas are exchanged with the good news of Pregnancy, New Born, Promotion, Success in education, Engagement, Marriage, and Prosperity 

It is a sweet authentic dish of India it is prepared as sweet thick semi-soft pieces with Khoya, milk, and sugar with Pistachios, Almonds, Cardamom powder as garnishing

Originated at Mathura in Uttar Pradesh in India with the name tag “Mathura ka Peda “ 

Peda recipe is a traditional dish of almost all regions of India with a little difference in names  

  • Peda is its name in most parts of India and Maharashtra
  • Mathura ka Peda in Uttar Pradesh 
  • Dharwad Peda, famous as its name suggests, is from the city of Dharwad in Karnataka. It is some 175 years old 
  • Kandi peda of Satara is very famous in India and abroad.
  • Peda is made purely from milk

How to make Homemade Peda Recipe 

I have made here Peda Recipe with Milk 

 Milk is the main ingredient in Peda and hence has many benefits

  • Pedas Improve the complexion of the person who partakes it 
  • Due to the ghee used in the preparation when partaken regularly, it provides nourishment to the tissues
  • It relieves fatigue, tiredness, debility
  • It promotes bulky muscles


  • A litre of full cream milk 
  • Sugar as required (i have taken 150gms)
  • Cardamom powder of 6 to 7 cardamoms
  • Almonds, Pistachio, Cashew Nuts for garnishing 

Cooking process

  • Heat a kadai on medium to low flame  
  • Put in one litre full cream milk and keep for boiling 
  • Let it boil by continuous stirring so it does not burn 
  • Keep on stirring 
  • It takes 40 to 45 minutes to reduce it to a semi-solid consistency 
  • Add 150 grams of sugar or as per your taste little by little
  • This will again add the water content due to sugar 
  • Let the sugar dissolve by continuous stir 
  • Let the mixture reduce to a solid consistency to form balls or semi-soft pieces
  • Garnish with Almonds, Pistachios, Cashew Nuts as per your taste 
  • Serve
