Such a simple desert can be found in the home of many Indians and can be made with very few ingredients. The word “peda” is derived from the Sanskrit word “penya” meaning “sweet”. Peda is a traditional Indian sweet. It is made from rice flour, milk, and a few other ingredients. The milk that is used for the recipe is typically the thick layer of cream that sits on top of boiled milk. Peda is typically served with cardamom pods on top. Peda is sweet and soft. In India exchanging “Peda” is a sign of good news. How to make Homemade Peda Recipe

  • Due to the ghee used in the preparation when partaken regularly, it provides nourishment to the tissues
  • It relieves fatigue, tiredness, debility
  • It promotes bulky muscles


Ingredients for Homemade Peda Recipe

  • A litre of full cream milk 
  • Sugar as required (i have taken 150gms)
  • Cardamom powder of 6 to 7 cardamoms
  • Almonds, Pistachio, Cashew Nuts for garnishing 
Cooking process
  • Heat a kadai on medium to low flame  
  • Put in one litre full cream milk and keep for boiling 
  • Let it boil by continuous stirring so it does not burn 
  • Keep on stirring 
  • It takes 40 to 45 minutes to reduce it to a semi-solid consistency 
  • Add 150 grams of sugar or as per your taste little by little
  • This will again add the water content due to sugar 
  • Let the sugar dissolve by continuous stir 
  • Let the mixture reduce to a solid consistency to form balls or semi-soft pieces
  • Garnish with Almonds, Pistachios, Cashew Nuts as per your taste 
  • Serve
